how easy is it to manage a table based timetable using a cms?

Moo, don't hijack the thread, please. There are LOTS of information about free CMS's out there: http://google.com

I Usually use Textpattern, but something lighter and really quick to setup could be handy sometimes.

Got a commercial project? use Expression Engine (professional support)
Not a commercial project, probably use modXExpression Engine 's learning curve is somewhat less stiff as modX's.
I never used wordpress, since it is originally created for blogging. I also don't like the fact that every modification to it is called 'hack'. Doesn't sound right to me.
- Wordpress is frustration free, but not enough features for some clients needs and security holes.itsmitch

I just installed Perch and I really like it. It's extremely clean but is extremely powerful and can by configured in nifty ways that I hadn't realized prior before installing.
http://allinthehead.com/retro/34…Above is a good article about setting up various regions, optional regions, and using templates. Neat stuff.
It's working quazi well on my IIS 7.0 server but with some hiccups that I believe are permission based. I think it would work fine out of the box on an updated Linux/Apache box.
I've used a ton of various CMS solutions over the years and I think this might be the best one I've used yet - but as always - right tool for the job. It wouldn't fit every clients needs, or every developers.

Perch should really have a live demo. 50$ per domain is too much for most of us (I think). Especially for an unilingual and limited CMS.
There should at least be a multi-domains price.
- Sorry if I looked negative here.. I really like what i've seen in the screenshots so far! Simplicity would not really a concern but more of a advantage for some projects, if the product was wisely priced.

I'd still love to hear about your experiences with Perch.

Any further experiences with this? Any sites I could look at to see how it's been pushed? (I mean, beyond the above links) This looks like a great solution for simple <20 page sites, right?
Please, feel free to drop me an email if you're uneasy about linking your work in here!
Dancer - is the developer a chum of yours?
- I do know him yes. Not essentially a "chum" but we attend the same local creative networking meetingsDancer

Been a while since anyone posted on this thread - has anyone used Perch or have any experience with it?
I need a CMS for small sites that is easy enough for a client to use.

I purchased 2 licenses, after they updated to the new version a month or so back. I got so tired of dealing with bloat from so many of the usual cms systems, and Perch is super refreshing. Sure a bit of a learning curve, but that's true with any cms, no?
The thing that got me was the ability and ease to set up & deploy custom fields. I set up a jquery gallery for the client, and as far as the client know he just uploads a photo in a simple backend form...Perch handles feeding it into into the html..and wham..nice updateable gallery.
The site I'm using it on isn't live yet, although soon. The 2nd license is for a personal project I'll be starting soon.

I like snews the best out of the bunch (and I still don't like it that much). Joomla and drupal are quite bloated and include a lot more than you'll ever need. My main issue with CMS's is you always have to de-engineer them in one way or another to get what you want. By the time you go through all that work, you could have paid a developer to get you what you REALLY wanted. Just my $.02

can you have a password protected area with perch??? with member management? i like the looks of perch, sort of a step up from cushy but fuck cushy i'd rather use unify because you can host it yourself but perch looks cool. pricey but whatever.
- jayoh0
@TheBlueOne:
Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to know. With the simplicity of the demos I wasn't sure if a simple gallery like that was possible.
Tell me though, how does Perch allow the photo uploads? I could see how it would implement the correct HTML for the new photos, but how does your client upload the photos through Perch?

Looks interesting (although currently in private beta). An advantage is the ability to expand to a full ExpressionEngine install if you end up needing the extra features.- nice the way they have the editable regions & in-context editingjayoh
