- It’s the first time Albertans have ever seen the capital._niko
- All I see is white bread folk here, Canada is almost 50% immigrants and in trucking it’s like 75% Sikh. This is just hosers blowing steam._niko
- some numbers from trucker association (whatever they're called)
roughly 90% of truckers are vaccinated.
less than 10% are anti vax
even less went for the protepango - they're main reason for protest is for CA/US to take down the cross border vax mandate.
and canadian gov's like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you want us to make US do what?pango - tho their frustration is not unfounded. the Vax mandate was announced 2 day (roughly) before it was enforced.pango
- even if they tried to get Vax asap, they still need to book appointment to get vax. it may take 1 week to 2 month.pango
- and then wait 2 weeks to be fully vaxed. that's a long time to be out of work.
so this is actually the direct result of US gov's action.pango - id say right now the biggest threat for the protest is the far right groups are slowly mixing them self into the protest.pango
- Truckers had it so good for so long, at the height of lockdowns they were able to cross the border no problem, no checks, no quarantine, nothing_niko
- It’s like 1939 PolandGnash
- I hear they were doing a lot of honking and walking aroundGnash
- and drivingpango
- And parking! Their parking was particularly aggressiveGnash
- yup. just like 1939 Poland :)pango

Thinking this is limited to those people in Ottawa right now misses how much support this movement has nationally. Out for a drive yesterday I saw a couple dozen vehicles parading in my very small rural B.C. town (that skews left by a large margin). Many of those that didn’t have stickers or flags were honking their support.
I think this must have pretty broad-based support all across Canada, despite how it’s being characterized in the media.
- small business and workers in general are fed up with mandates and restrictions, but this movement has been hijacked by some nasty groups.Salarrue
- have you read up what it is they want?pango
- I am talking about the overall support in all provinces by gullible peopleSalarrue
- I gather it’s a charter of rights issue. Something between ‘security of person’ and ‘mobility rights’monNom
- Mobility right to cross into US boarder? Cuz that's what sparked this protest.pango

Canadians used to imagine that climate change would benefit them, that the warming of the earth would make Canada a pleasant paradise with warm winters.
Science was like, "no, you fools. It will be extreme temperatures. Unbearable summers and even colder winters."
Some Canadians still imagine this future. Despite the usually most beautiful part of the country being a hellscape at the moment.
- In the area where my brother in law lives a few folk have died with the heat. He's currently working in his garage built into a hill, so it's a bit cooler.PhanLo
- It's actually the same in other parts of the world were we're used to having gradual climate changes
It it will only get worse from now on...grafician - Canadians don’t think thatGnash

"MPs agree to call on feds to declare Proud Boys a terrorist entity
The motion called on the government to “use all available tools to address the proliferation of white supremacists and hate groups,” starting with the immediate designation of the Proud Boys as a terrorist group."
- This a really stupid idea and is likely to turn those in the PB with more extreme tendencies in actual terrorists. Have they learned nothing from Isis...Morning_star
- ...Boko Haram, AlQueda?Morning_star

- They're not white supremacists, they're a christian fascist militia. I mean some of them are white supremacists but not all of them.PhanLo
- This gives law enforcement the means to investigate and monitor them, in what way is this going to push them into terrorist activites? They won't even know theyzarkonite
- are being watched. It's not like they mandated a twitter mob of bullies to make fun of them, this is good policy.zarkonite

Trudeau pauses for 21 seconds before answering question about Trump's response to U.S. protests.
... that hair tho.
- I wish that more leaders like Trudeau would think before they quickly spout out their thoughts especially with all of the chaos ananger going on at this moment.utopian
- It's possible he was waiting for the question to be repeated in French and the French audio has been cutnb
- nah, he was trying to balance out his far left base's needs vs not pissing off our sugar daddy.zarkonite
- If you think the far left supports Trudeau you don't know anyone on the far left.i_monk
- They're the ones that brought him into power to begin with. He's taken the Libs and made them into a left leaning party.zarkonite
- You're confusing the left with far left, as conservatives tend to do. The far left votes NDP, the Libs are too right for them.i_monk
- How do you explain to the NDP lost 50%+ of their votes under Mulcair while the Libs surged?zarkonite

I haven't noticed a difference at all. I expected potheads would be really annoying for the first few months, trying to get high everywhere and make sure everyone was aware they were at it, but nothing.
The postal strike might play a role in that though...
- we've been smoking so much in vancouver, we really can't smoke anymore despite legalization.pango
- Went to get my license stickers the other day and the Service Canada office smelled like weed - usually it smells like cigarettes and timmies.ben_
- postal strike was timed wellGnash
- noticed more conversations are happening out in the open now. People have let their guard down when discussing weed._niko
- It's like when they legalized toplessness on beaches and in parks and in the street. Absolutely nothing changed, nobody does it any more than before._niko
- although I do smell it in the streets more than beforeGnash
- i did notice it at the beach during the lighting of the christmas trees, huge crowds of people with families and it was definitely in the air._niko
- although nowadays we don't know who's vaping or using oils or even edibles, which as non-smokers we much prefer._niko

"Jody Wilson-Raybould says progressive policy will replace failed model that made criminals rich"
October 17th baby!!!!
- So now it’ll make douchebag investors rich instead. Id rather have my city’s criminals slinging weed than robbing and stealing to make a living._niko
- You can probably still buy from criminals...mantrakid
- I mean if its important to you.mantrakid
- They use the drug money to traffic humans and other horrible activities. Your calling investors douchebags speaks volumes as to your level of understanding ofzarkonite
- the world.zarkonite
- who? Trevor from the block? get the fuck out of here, politicians and business men are the worlds biggest human traffickers ffs._niko
- and I'm talking about the run of the mill street hustler, you think once weed is legal and it removes their source of income that what? they'll all go back to_niko
- school or get a real job? They'll turn to worse shit to make a meager living._niko
- but not that i'm complaining, the rewards of knowing what you're getting and having an infinite selection of strains to choose from far outweigh the other shit_niko
- You're making a huge assumption about what the weed dealers are going to do next. Matter of fact, why wouldn't they get a real job selling weed with a pension?zarkonite
- and I've never met a guy that was a full time dealer that only sold weed... that's for guys who want to smoke for free and sell to their friends.zarkonite
- and again, what's a business man? I've owned many businesses in my life, does that automatically make me a douche? and anyone with money invested for theirzarkonite
- retirement is an investor. Everyone's a douche now?zarkonite
- no zarkonite, relax man, just the douche bag investors lol. I'm talking about the scum of the earth pieces of shit, you know who they are._niko
- I'd rather have tax paying businesses who offer wages to employees as part of the system, no matter how broken it is, than crime syndicates getting rich.zarkonite

congrats to our feminist man dem prime minister Justin Trudeau
for changing "all thy sons command" to "all of us command" in Canada's national anthem.Don't mind it actually but what we should really change is "god keep our land" to "we keep our land" which puts the emphasis on us and is more uniting than leaving our fate to supernatural nonsense.
