I'm going to attempt it on my unicycle.

So you dont have to click the link....it is a 3000 mile transcontinental bike race from Oceanside CA to Annapolis Maryland. Kinda like the Tour De France of the ultra cycling world.

sounds awesome. i can't imagine biking that far!

oh. bike nuts. bike people are a real cult...almost more so that motorcycle nuts...
- readyok0
yeah, I will agree with you about bike nuts. It really does kinda engulf your mind. I started cycling this year and I am hooked. Love to watch it, do it, talk about it, dream about it. Can it be officially recognized by the CDC as a disease, much like alcoholism?

how long is the average time between the start and finish?
- readyok0
Hmmm. I dont really know what the average is. The record is just under 8 days. I think the average is probably around 9 days even.

The people who ride it are awe inspiring. It is really amazing that people can do this.

This is hardcore. Not sure what you accomplish when you get into this absurd level...kind of like running 100 mile marathons etc. But hey, props if you can do it.

I have read a lot of stuff about the whole ultra marathon thing...people say you finish and are forever changed. I guess it really puts life in perspective or something? I dont know. I finished my first 100 mile bike ride the other day and it felt pretty good. I couldnt imagine the sense of accomplishment people feel when they finish an event like RAAM. Must feel good, not to mention how healthy these people have to be.

3000miles???? That would totally wreck anyone's body. I bet they can't have sex for months afterwards.
Poor bastards.

I once read about LeTourDirect, they ride the entire tour de france in one go, with a maximum of 2 hours of sleep a day......
