Why does switching the foreground and background colours in Photoshop cause the spinning Beachball cursor to appear. Sometimes for 30 seconds!
Is it so hard for Photoshop to compute a switch in palette colours?

I don't have an issue... you low on RAM or disk space?

i personally love the 5-15 minutes of beachball when shifting from "save as" to "save for web"...especially if i haven't used the "save for web" until late in the afternoon when i am trying to get out of the office. round and round and round and round round and round and round and round round and round and round and round round and round and round and round

I don't experience those little hold-ups, but I do often wait for five minutes while Photoshop quits. Really!?

empty your cache.. you should not be getting a spinning ball when switching background to foreground.

i used to get that problem all the time with my old powerbook. switching between tools like the marquee or text was bad too! sometimes a 20 second wait. I wanted to gauge my eyes out!!
either max out your ram or upgrade your computer completely like i did.

I get that crap all the time at work, most often when trying to save for web, as lvl_13 mentioned. It typically happens when I'm doing a comp for a page that has more than 50 or so layers. Sometimes I'll even get it when trying to select a different layer.
Never happens on my PC at home (which is older than my Mac here)
