Interesting report by Al Jazeera

this is not going to end up well at all,
I'm deeply saddened by what I wish I hadn't seen this past few hours but I know deep down inside me that it isn't going to end well.
seeing someone die live on tape is trully gruesome but if you change the geographic location, you will see that some will find a way to laugh at human despair (*points at titanic tribute in potd thread),
Technology has allowed us to be connected but it should be taken with a grain of salt like everything in life,
I'm scared for iranians because I know they truly want freedom but once the battle starts it may light a fire that will be hard to estinguish, maybe the outcome will be positive this time :)
I'm ranting here because its only been 2 years since my own country signed a "peace" declaration, we got lucky though, the war only lasted 6 years, I was scared for my owns and we did lost some of our relatives in it, but the thing that pissed me off most was the propaganda used by western media to demonise us, they even went as low as to mix images from diverse african nations (you know we're black, nobody will see the difference..)I'm reading all the informations posted here and I let it sip in before posting because I know I'll sound like some crazy guy, I just want to warn everyone to be very couscious with what they post, its never good to blow on a fire that will be extinguished by others live.
Mirpour thanks for posting that,
my prayers go to the entire Iranian population

That woman's death sticks in my brain. They can't win this with just cell-phones and blogs - not with unidentified militia shooting unarmed civilians.

6:55 PM ET -- A bit more on Neda. A blogger apparently in touch with Neda's family members offers some new details (translated by reader Nima): she was born in 1982, apparently her full name was Neda Agha-Soltan, and she was at the protest with one her professors and several other students. She was, they said, shot by a basiji riding by on a motorcycle. Also, she was apparently buried today at a large cemetery in the south of Tehran. ABC News' Lara Setrakian writes, "Hearing reports Neda was buried in Behesht Zahra cemetery earlier today, memorial service cancelled on orders from authorities."
Shot straight through the heart....
I can't get that image of life leaving her eyes, out of my mind....

I just checked what "basij" or "baseej" means.
Snitches, the lowest form of life.
With guns...
I just hope that woman's death won't be in vain.

so, is anyone convinced that the other candidate would be much better? I'm sort of new to the whole thing here, but why do the people hate Ahmadinejad so much?

The other candidate has a very doubtful curriculum (especially because he's a turn-coat and his part in the instalment, and recent history of Iran is very shady). Still, there are lots of people in the streets and that speaks for something. Unless they're are all fools and dying for nothing, which I don't think is the case.

Now that the Iranian government has admitted that 3 million non-existent people voted, maybe we can drop the line that there's no evidence of fraud.

Dear dumbshit rightwing US news pundits,
Being pro-freedom, and pro-democracy, does not equal pro-america.
Thank you that is all.

^^our grandparents would beg to differ...
... and don't take that as me arguing w/you... :) I'm actually in complete agreement - I'm finding that the bit of the older generation still in charge or that have influence are still very much Clint Eastwood in Gran Turino...

Maybe this is wrong of me to say... But I hate old people most of the time because of that fact. They are unwilling to change there lives for the better. "If it worked before it should work now". There are reports of old people using medicare just to go visit with Dr's not even for check ups just to have someone to talk to. Meanwhile the tax payer pays the bill for that shit.- ooooh please, I've heard some people go to the doc with crocs, doesn't mean everyone does it, don't generalizeGeorgesII
