Surely she must realise that every time she involves herself in these ridiculous episodes she just adds to the notion she's just a celebrity trying to embed herself into the political arena and has no clue what the real issues are.

Letterman officially apologises.
"I told a bad joke. ... It's not your fault that it was misunderstood," he tells his audience. "It's my fault. ... So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the Governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future. Thank you very much."

Palin accepts apology.
"Ofcourse it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men sho joke about public displays of sexual expoitation of girls will soon evolve. Letterman certainly has the right to joke about watever he wants to and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction.
