Hi All-
Looking for some advice. I like to build my animation on the timeline always using motion tweens.
Is there a way to automatically "convert" that into AS3 so that the the execution of the animation is of a better quality, like without the choppiness, without having to write the code manually? Thanks, you guys are the experts!

as3 uses external classes. do a litle research and combine tween classes with timers to do the same 'timeline' ish stuff.

give what ever you are animating an instance name. Then create your tween on the timeline. After creating the tween on the timeline right click on the tween and select copy motion as as3. It should now ask you for the instance name. After that create a layer for your actions and paste it. Take off the timeline tween and test movie and it should work with straight actionscript.
This seems like a painful way to go about animating so I would suggest getting up to date with tweenlite/tweenmax as it can save you tons of time.
- I explored on tweenlite- thanks, it is really cool and easy to understand!SoulFly

Yeah, seems like using one of the tween classes to begin with would be easier and less time-consuming.

also, using a tween class like tweenlite will be easier on the processor when you've got lots of tweens happening

Hey guys- thanks so much for the great tips!

There's a bit of a learning curve, but you'll eventually be able to do everything you did on the timeline with actionscript tweening libraries. Plus it really allows you to start doing some cool dynamic stuff that wouldn't be possible on the timeline.

This is how I've done it in the past, if I understand you correctly....
From:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/…"You can describe a motion tween using XML and the ActionScript classes in the fl.motion package. Adobe Flash CS3 has a Copy Motion as ActionScript command that generates XML and ActionScript based on a motion tween on the Timeline for use on other symbols or in other projects. "
