You'd really have to hate ATT to go with something other than an iPhone. Especially if you're a Mac user.

i use both my desktop pc and mbp. i like them both equally. its not about apple vs something for me. i'd just like a decent phone that has a battery that doesn't die on me very quickly, and has some gps and some other useful mobile web capabilities.

I'm not a fanboy by any means, but let me just say this: I've had my iphone 3G since last August, and I am still impressed with it every single time I use it. I can't imagine having anything less for a cell phone.

I would like to get a smart phone, I just don't justify the cost of internet. $35 for internet service for a mobile device, when I pay $42 for Comcast internet. The greedy telcos don't one a single standard and the government allows it to continue.
You can't even tether legally on an iphone or g1? WTF!

I have verizon, but I don't see the purpose of having the ability to rage on the internet on the go. Plus, I usually have my laptop with me so I just use that.

It makes web surfing a joy when i'm poopin'. For some, this may be the ultimate deal breaker.

Seriously, think about this when handling other people's phones.

The Iphone is pretty worth it, especially the gps features. The only problem is signing that 3 year contract to get it at a good price.
For instance in Toronto they have the Red Rocket app, and you can type in your destination, and it will tell you how to get there using public transit, where to walk to the stop, what bus to take, where to get off, and you can track your movements which is awesome! I dont have one, but if I was willing to sign with Rogers for 3 years I totally would get that for my next new phone,
I am totally fine with Koodo and not having to pay system access fees and free text messaging. I settled for the Ipod Touch

For as little as I talk on a cell phone, paying any of the monthly fees for the iPhone just doesn't make sense. If you total up the two year monthly cost plus tax it's a pretty hefty chunk of change, even on the cheapest plan with data. I'd much rather have a dumb phone and spend the hundreds of dollars I'd save in service fees on something else.
