I would try to make it work without a backup name tag... I think having something that is 1/2 mark, 1/2 logotype would be a little awkward—one or the other.
with a little tweaking I think you can make this stand alone.

@ digbre... none at all.
I've always felt that if you're to comfortable with something you need to change it up and make it a little itchy. Being to comfortable with something creates complacency.
BTW this is just the mark. There will be a backup name tag in most situations.

fuck everyone—I like it. it reminds me of huge pieces of plywood for some reason. as far as legibility goes, I read bzsaw fairly easy.
obviously it needs work, but I wouldn't drop the concept.

your work is great man, but this logo is kind off a let down. your previous one was better imo.
no hard feelings !!

Thank you all for the feedback and opinions... its been fun.

It's really bad. After looking at it intensely I would just about come up with uhhh 'VZ SAV'.
And thats really trying hard to find letters, AND i'm a designer who knows what to look for with these blocky type trends.
That logo has no hope in hell mate, sorry.

I agree the current logo needs an update. But this version just isn't working at the moment. It's very non format-on an off day! I think it will work well and have a fresh/creative feeling if you get it right. The current one seems very tired.

that orange is hot!!! your on the right track, just need some fine tuning.

think its alot better but to be honest it doesnt blend in with any other work that you do. dont get me wrong, love your work but this new brand just looks totally out of place
but if your gona stay with this idea i would play about bit more with the top part the B cos i keep seeing it as an E.

looking much better... but i don't get the loss of 'UZ' or how it relates to the kind of work you do.

i haven't read any of the other comments, but this looks like it dates back to 1998 and the die gestalten verlag/ buro destruct age.
your work is great, but this logo already looks severely dated.
no offense intended, but i think you should just stick with what you currently have...or hit the drawing board once again, starting from scratch.
- in case my reference wasn't known: http://www.gestalten… but i'm sure you knew :)lvl_13
- and on a side note: i read buzzsaw right away (or the abbreviation) but my opinion still stands.lvl_13

The abbreviation idea is cool, but it gets confusing when I can't read the letters at all.
It can be blocky, but dial back the abstraction a few levels so that it works with the abbreviation.

i find the mark very interesting, but i can not read what it says.

He had to split!

New Version

Concept is good, but I think it needs to be a little more legible IMO.

tparsons, most of your work is good. the packaging is great, especially the coffee cups. why does this logo suck?

Pretentious

Hey there are a lot of Germans here... don't be prejudice.
- braaad0
Well, you're relocating to Maui, right? Maybe something more Hawaiian, less...German ;-)
