is as much of a sport at hunting, zero
- i don't think hunters drag out killing a animal and definitely not as a spectator sportnicole_marie

It's not a 1 on 1 fight...
They are like those pussie guys you see who front up and talk shit when they have friends to cover their backs, but if you see them on their own they never have anything to say. I'd not have a problem with it if a guy went 1 on 1 and killed the bull then they all had a nice feast. But the way they do it is gutless.... no real man picks a fight and then gets his mates to help out when he starts getting beat down.

I always find it pretty comical watching people running from bulls in narrow streets and being gored to death. Good riddance.

If it was a fairer fight, with uncompromised bulls, I'd probably not be too bothered about it. The daily horrors wrought by industrialised butchery in the west is far more horrific, and widely unthought upon.
At least the bull in these 'matches' is revered in some way. Our daily meat, on the other hand, is generally not.

I was under the impression the "sport" was mostly funded by foreign tourists these days. I don't really care one way or the other, but if england's not allowed to chase foxes, ferret for rabbits, badger bait, smoke in pubs or slap children... then spain should not be allowed this. fairs fair.

i've never been to a bull fight and probably never will ... but i always loved hemingway's description of a bull fight ... he made it sound quite honourable ... but those are just words, after all.

In Portugal there's a variant called "forcados" - in which 6 or 7 men try to stop a running bull - it's the most honest part of that whole thing although the animal is already a bit tired from running after the horses and all:

Its in the culture section in the spanish press, and apparently the bulls are looked after really well before they are brutalised, still its a bit of a non event to watch on tv, they need less weapons or maybe have 2 bulls dueling with 1 bullfighter, like survivor series?
