Thought I would throw this new 'concept agency' to the wolves here.
How does this mix of 'revolution' resonate with deisgners, the people who actually do the work?

Ooh, pixellated extended Helvetica! It's like the late 90's all over!
/snarky twatrant
- I hereby lay claim to the compound word form 'twatrant', in addition, its use alongside 'snarky'. That is all.Nairn
- ah shit. Claim renounced.

Well, sounds like a gimmick clearly. But they've thought it through a bit it would seem. They have a disclaimer that when the client decides what it's worth that there willbe a mandatory cost to cover travel/production/etc. So designers, writers, and so on get paid.
At least that's what it seems.

K, after looking through that site.. I'm no clearer as to what they actually are.
- baseline_shift0
so they are an agency based on spec work? With an open ended payment system‽‽
- Mimio0
The business model reminds of an episode of "The Little Rascals" where they put on a play production for the other kids and charge them admission as they leave.
- Mimio0
Stupid concept. Why absorb that risk for clients? Why expose a business to exploitation?
- They don't, not entirely. It's set up so all overhead is covered.harlequino
- They're saying that they negotiate cost after the deliverable.Mimio
- True, but various overhead-y things are the minimum.
It's still dumb, though.harlequino

does nothing for me

they should probably get used to being in the company of cardboard signs
- kaonashi0
This is complete bullshit.
I love how the site claims "Go back to Econ 101, freelancers aren't the answer!"
And then they come up with this stupid opt-in business model. You don't need to take an economics course to realize people don't want to part with their hard earned cash. The Radiohead "In Rainbows" release is a good example.

i love how they say they are keeping up with the changing landscape with their innovative use of floating sticky notes

couldnt be bothered to wait for it to load, make a html site next time
- jgilmore0
"cheaper than freelance better than interns" says it all!!
- kld0
utter crap. on all levels.
"if you don't like the work, you don't have to pay" How is this even sustainable biz practice?
- alex0
Had a really hard time to actually read the text. Was not able to find any samples of their work. Changing landscape....? Sure you do....

The name says it all 'Nil' (skills)
- johndiggity0
got to be just a marketing scheme. there's no way they couldn't very well inflate their production costs and other incidentals the client agrees to pay to cover hours on the project.

Impressive idea. As a freelancer once again, (much like the whole crowdsourcing thing) I don't for a second feel threatened by these guys/girls/whatever pinching potential clients from me because "I'm not worth the rates".
Their own site is poorly designed and built and a flimsy list of "clients" which don't show any actual samples of work wouldn't inspire me any further.
It's nothing short of a gimmick designed to no doubt generate a bit of discussion and maybe pull in a few clients but I honestly still don't know why design and development is so woefully underappreciated in terms of the skill and experience required to do the job properly because there really just can't be many other industries where someone could come up with this idea and actually get anywhere with it.
- monospaced0
So...what if the client decides it's not worth anything?
- monospaced0
This concept of not paying designers is guaranteed to get you the best talent out there. I know a ton of individuals who would jump on the opportunity to work for the prospect of nothing. Fuck off.

junk show.
