What machine of the last 100 years would you define with the term 'WORKHORSE'?
DICTIONARY TERM:Something, such as a machine, that performs dependably under heavy or prolonged use: "the 50-year-old DC-3 ... one of aviation's most effective workhorses" (Christian Science Monitor).

The Rover V8 engine. Don't knock it until you've seen just how many vehicles on both sides of the Atlantic that thing has powered, from the early 60's right through to 2006 when it finally ceased production.
- Check the list of models it ran. All one engine. This doesn't even include marine, agricultural & work vehicles...Orbit
