slow, but i like the pace. but, did you ever try to keep a girl, or young child entertained during an entire game? only go with an old man. they can appreciate the pace.

i hate this from the media... "... that's just manny being manny"
FUCK THAT
the next time i get pulled over for doing 120mph on the freeway stark naked with metallica blasting and a keg of beer propped up in the back seat i'm going to tell the cop "... hey... this is just kona being kona..." and i want him to go "oh ok cool then dude, you want me to throw down a few pumps on the tapper to keep the beer flowing properly" and i'll be like "indubitably" and then i'll peel out speeding off throwing rocks on his car.

- either way he should have known better. that is why he pays his agent 5%. he asks his agent...kona
- if it is ok to take it... his agent does the research, his agent tells him yes or no. or, he asks himself. he's an idiot either way.kona
- and, as i said before. ED is a common side-effect of prolonged steroid use.kona

hahaah... i'm with you, kona...
... and juhls... you're going to need to do better than your two notes...
:)
... 'records' are worth whatever you feel they're worth... IT'S A SPORT. :D... who really cares? (maybe that arsenal fan who hung himself the other day... who knows...:D)...... and your second note: "And there should be a cap on salaries. Millions of dollars is where the cap is now for some sports. That's good enough."
... ?? that's not really an argument - 'capping' salary is a very silly move... salaries should be between management and the player and nobody else's biz...
... if someone brings in that many fans and that much money - so be it... pay them accordingly... else you no longer have a business but a community-run organization. :) This is business first... and that's not sad... that's awesome because everyone wins (you're thoroughly entertained and the athlete who is 'super human' in reality and blessed with mad talent) gets his just-compensation... seems pretty fair to me.

The Olympics have the toughest testing policy, but The Olympics are a complete joke. Now the biggest stories are not "who won?" but "who got busted?" and "who should have gotten busted, but didn't?" and "who will get busted for winning this event we just watched sometime in the future, and have their medals taken away?"
It's silly. People take drugs all the time. Even normal people take drugs to work (caffeine, etc.), relieve stress (pills of all kinds, booze, etc.), get a boner (Viagra, etc.), pay attention (ritalin), not kill themselves (antidepressants), not act totally crazy and frighten the children (stelazine, etc.), to say nothing of the hundreds and thousands of things taken to prevent, reduce, or cure diseases of all sorts.
Athletes should be able to take things to improve their performance. Just like they're allowed to practice, and be coached, and workout.
It's hypocritical of society to think athletes are in a special class where they are beyond the help of modern medicine and science. We don't make them run track in high heels and overalls, right?
We don't make the swimmers carry anchors? Why persist with this myth that we're going to catch the people that are cheating the current "system."

To my credit, I don't drink to relieve stress. I drink because it's the only thing that gets me out of bed.

I'm not a fan of the sport, but I enjoy going to a game, which is the exact opposite of american football, wherein I love the sport, but hate going to the games.
- There's too much standing around in both of those sports.boobs

Seriously, if you look at every guy that has tested positive there has either been "suspicion" from fans from years, or the guy was an all around jackass to begin with.
Manny testing positive? Is anyone that seriously surprised considering how often the dude put himself and his stats before the team? He's from the same generation of players where hitting 45 HR and 150 RBI a year didn't even get you "elite" status.
Now if someone like Chase Utley or Tim Lincecum tested positive, I would be bummed. But they don't they are the new generation of baseball, reforming the sport and making it way more enjoyable. It's becoming less about the long ball and more about the fundamentals of baseball that made the game so great to begin with.
- Do you even know what he tested positive for? it wasnt roids or hgh or any of that shit.it was a boner pill.threadpost
- threadpost0
This is bullshit. he tested positive for taking some boner drug. who the fuck cares if some dude takes some viagra etc? I realize he wasn't positive for that exactly, but positive for gonadotropin. For fucks sake, its most often used as a womens fertility drug. Why he was taking it, I have no clue, but it certainly wasn't as if he's taking 'roids, hgh etc.
Total bs.
They're trying to make an example of him.
But never dis baseball, the most strategic of all major sports. So many find it boring because there are so many subtleties to it. I grew up playing and therefore am totally passionate about the sport.
Could any of you here play every single day, 160 some odd games, facing a 98 mph fst ball and then try to hit a 70mph change-up?
guess thats why we're on an interweb chat board instead of making millions of dollars.
Baseball is a very mental sport, a game of inches as they say. Just pisses me off Manny was the one made an example of.

i la-la-la love me some baseball players

Sorry threadpost. I have to call "bullshit."
He was banned for using a drug which is frequently used to mask steroid use. That, coupled with previous suspicious tests revealing traces of various banned drugs, was what caused his suspension.
I don't see how you can say he was "made an example of" when other players have been suspended too, and the whole sport is in a cycle of self-destruction which has law enforcement, and Congress, wanting to break heads and take names.
It's just mental to think Manny was persecuted.
- this happened like 24hra ago, none of us have anything but speculation right now anyway. but he was caught....threadpost
- wi/ gonadotropin in his system.( a testosterone stabilizer in ED meds).but this is bsthreadpost
- Greedo0
I remember they had some interview with him during spring training where they asked him what he still wanted to achieve.
Answer: "Nothing."
Didn't know you needed drugs for that...

Baseball is going to keep that list of 130 names under wraps forever. Imagine if on that list were the good guys of the sport. They do not want that downward spiral. It would ruin them. I don't know who to believe anymore.
- PonyBoy0
- not sure what you mean by this, but Dodgers are best in BB right now, and Manny got busted for taking a boner pill.threadpost
