Looking to print #04abac type on a black and second guessing what the right pantone choice is. Anyone with a print background can help me out? I was thinking 251-3.

#04abac would be hex would it not?

Yes, sorry I thought that would be easier to deal with.

it may not be an exact conversion, as you may know.

Yeah I know. Just need a recommend for what will turn out the best. It seems I need a PMS color which I don't even have the swatch book for.

use the color picker on photoshop, enter the rgb values then click on the color picker and pull down the pantone swatch from the menu. Its picks the closest matching color.

depends on the paper, coated or uncoated. sometimes you have to choose 2 different PMS colors to get the same color on coated and uncoated paper.

Ended up using this and was able to get a friend to verify it with a swatch book - did a decent job:

I think Pantone design bridge will have a cross reference for pantone to rgb. Try and borrow it from someone as it's expensive

found these 2 to be close just skimming through the bridge....
PMS 326C - 0/178/169
PMS 7466C - 0/168/180

The time is nigh for that NetFront site. Pantone/XRite will kill it as soon as they know it exists.

Yes, sorry. The paper is white and I am printing black and this color.

Thanks everyone for the help. It's clear that I need to get back to doing more print work.
