Hey everybody,
I just remade some Wu-Tang (group and solo) album covers, let me know what you think. So far I just have the first seven done. My favorite is Liquid Swords I think but everybody at work loves ODB.

These are nice - but you make them look better than they sound (imo).

I agree that the ODB cover is better designed. Why did you make them look so aged, though?

Because of this thread, I'm going to start my morning with a Liquid Swords soundtrack. People say his brain was infected by devils.

Looks great.

Nice, also necessary because their sleeve designs are always so bad..

@monospaced, the aging thing was one of the last things i did. i know they're probably not old enough to warrant it, but i think it helped with the Blue Note "look." more like old vinyl, i guess
- that's alright, I guess ... I'm really enjoying looking at classic Blue Note album coversmonospaced

So there's not much work coming to your company in these days?

Very nice work.

my final paper in Design History class years ago was on Reid Miles/Blue Note, i've been a fan for awhile. i should also mention that the whole thing was definitely influenced by Olly Moss's video game book covers and Spacesick's "I Can Read Movies" series

Theyre ok, but they completely miss the point of the original covers which is to visualize the sound of what is contained within.

Is Wu-Tang a country music group?

Sorry, I really do not like these.
But then again, you are trying to update classics and though some may be nice, and others may be fine if not associated with album cover art, the fact remains that each and every album cover was a classic.
A classic in the album art, and a classic in the content which it went with the subject material to add on to jgilmore's point.
If this is an homage to Blue Note by using Wu-Tang as a medium, then I'm going to have to ask why. Doing it for doing its sake is fine I guess, but I don't like them.
Then again, they could have been stellar and fine re-interpretations and I would probably still be biased, and ask why change a thing as I grew up on these albums.
ODB had quite possibly one of the most iconic album covers in hip-hop history.
The only one that makes any sort of sense is the Method Man rendition you did. Which I find cheesy.
Do you even like Wu-Tang would be my next question.
