So if I stop following someone on Twitter, do they get notified that I've dumped them?
So people twit so fucking much, that I don't want to hear it any more. But, I don't want them to be told I'm no longer listening.

nope - you're good

So they won't know that I've dropped them from my list? They won't know that I've dumped them? What about on their "Followers" list? Will I still show up on that?

Because, you know, some people on there--God Bless 'em, but let's be honest here--are real blabbermouths, and they just fill the whole thing up with "Just adjusted underwear," "Took shit in fridge," "Where did I put my sandwich," and all that shit and it blocks my view of the juicy sex posts some people put up.
But, you know, I don't want word to get backed that I dropped them for being boring.

..unless they use qwitter.

I did that with a facebook friend.
it was either delete him
or kill him ;-)- did that to some friends that constantly talked politics on the FBfooler2

Funny you should ask that.. twitter, above all, is the biggest internet noise generator and it doesn't take long to follow too many people.
The problem with some people, especially bloggers, especially professional bloggers, they will shower you with fantastic links alongside their site specific spam. You don't want to lose the good stuff, but you're sick of the blog update notifications.
- @FreelanceSw and @NETTUTS are good examples - valuable info and lost of (quite valuable) self promotionraf

Well I guess one man's spam is another man's fantastic link. It's all subjective, right?

You must be on Twitter.

If they see you've dropped them, they might think about the quality of the stuff they're posting and pick up their act. Big deal if you hurt their poor widdle feeling. I agree, there's a lot of chaff, but you have to expect that... there's a lot of crap from 'friends' on your facebook profile too, no? Quizzes that you just don't give a shit about? God I hate those things.

But on Facebook the type is smaller, and one post doesn't stop you from seeing another post (so much).

What if someone is following you and you block them. Will they be notified?

OK. I dropped Samantha Ronson. But don't tell her because I hear she carries a grudge.

Just dropped iJustine and LifeOfARockStar.
Things are looking up.

Twitter is part of the internet right? So is there porn over there?

Is Twitter the most nauseatingly narcissistic venture to yet plague the web, or am I missing something?
Granted, I just had a potential client find me on Twitter of all places, someone I don't know mentioned me on there. But I don't see myself "following" anyone this way. Frankly, I don't have the time nor the interest in alerting the world to every bugger and crumb.

Let them know that they are dead in your heart and that it was simply time to move on with your life.
