are bullshit.
"Come race day, the Tarahumara don't train. They don't stretch or warm up. They just stroll to the starting line, laughing and bantering, and then go for it, ultra-running for two full days, sometimes covering over 300 miles, non-stop. For the fun of it. One of them recently came first in a prestigious 100-mile race wearing nothing but a toga and sandals. He was 57 years old."

I actually read about these guys a few months ago. I think the article actually said something to the effect of 'Usually the only time other marathoners pass them is when they stop to have a smoke.' Too funny.

I have plantar fasciitis, and the correct running shoes help my feet. I don't go expensive, but I avoid the cheep ones. Before running, get fitted at a local running shop. It's free and your feet will thank you.
I got 650 miles in my current shoes.

check out Nike Free's they emulate running barefoot and if you don't have 20+ years of calluses on your feet your feet will thank you.

fooler2,
I've wanted to check out those Nike Frees ever since i saw them a few years ago and was told they were more of a training shoe. I wear Air Max running shoes at the gym, but have wanted something more flexible and lightweight instead of a semi-stiff soled running shoe.
Have you ever used them? Would they be a good gym shoe?

I used those for almost year, strictly for running, they are incredibly comfortable, yes, super light, yes.But its no where near being barefoot.
I agree, most of the shoes on the market are waaaay over priced, and its all marketing, just wait 1 year and see them devaluate more than computers, its all looks really.
I dont think I can do 60min run barefoot, but I once saw a guy on running the opposite direction, he was barefoot, and running way faster than I was, on the sidewalk. pretty nuts
