"How do you deal with employees who come into work reeking of alcohol and pussy?"
- gabadilla0
Real questions I've had to answer:
What is the role of design?
What makes a design successful? Provide examples.
How are you pushing yourself to be a better designer?Good luck with your interviews!

During a phone interview, you know it is going to be bad when the interviewer starts off with, "So talk to me, what do you got?".

'tell me about a time you failed, what you did to resolve the problems you caused, and how you've worked to ensure that you never make those same mistakes again"
'tell me about a coworker who you didn't work well with, and how you resolved the issues between you"
"Hypothetically, would you like to go to dinner with me?"
- To answer your last question: "Only if you hired me."coco_ono

I was once asked 'what 5 things did you not like about your last job/employer?'
What the fuck kind of question is that, are they really expecting someone to badmouth an employer? I told em the only thing I hated was when he played jazz in the office. I fucking hate squeaky jazz.

If I were to ask one of your references what you felt your direction was towards personal development, What would their answer be?
I was seriously asked this in an interview yesterday. Still don't know what they were on about.

for design?
Why did you choose those colors?
Tell me your thought process when getting into a project?
Do you prefer to work in groups or alone? My advice would be have a reason for EVERYTHING. If you have a yellow box in the corner of the design, tell them why that box is there the significance of it.

Right, Hurley...I can justify my reasons for design choices..
I guess I'm looking to see if there are questions that reach a deeper, more philosophical level. ( i.e. - "What does graphic design mean to you.","What separates you as a designer from other designers?") Stuff like that.
- The kinds of questions that you have to actually think about...coco_ono

“How much of this project did you actually do?”
“Why did you leave your last job?”
“Where do you see yourself in five years?”
“Would you like a coffee?”I got asked the question “What is your worst quality?” in an interview once – I hate that question. When it came time for them to ask if I had any questions, my first one was “What is the worst thing about working for this company?” Needless to say, there was a lot of stammering, fidgeting and red faces. Needless to say, I didn’t get the job. I’d made up my mind I didn’t want it by that point anyway.
