I have a new client coming over later to discuss a web/ID. He is a freelance Grip that works on movie set's. Anyone done any work for this sector (behind the scene's)?

Yeah, complete corporate ID for a runner's assistant once. Quite an arrogant prick he was though!

I don't think I've met a grip with a logo.
I'd expect they would like to mimic the Director of Photography, maybe look at some of their sites?

ask pr2 if he is still around. if they are anything like him though...

Dop's will showcase the beauty of their work. Grips will generally be hired by or a prefered supplier to a d.o.p or production dept. I think it'd be much more of a nicely designed typographic site with perhaps behind the scenes (if they have any) of productions they have worked on. Dunno if this helps- never seen a grip with a site so fair play to him.
As a rule, crew are far more like electricians/carpenters etc. on construction sites. Generally don't give 2 hoots about the creative, are union backed and religious about overtime and charging so in a sense it's less about art...

in short, they're stinking cunts.

Exactly babaganush, He wants something that is simple and stylish. The only images he would have would be of a rig he has just set up, also he has a rates list and credits. We have just met and he would love a simple typographic route which is perfect.
No logo really so simple jpb for moi.

Grips are a damn site more important than runners Janne. Its a highly specialised area.
