Are all the LA broadcast jobs gone?

I've notice a big drop-off in the jobs boards looking from motion designer/animators in recent weeks. I thought there would be a lag-period between the main economic crisis and decline in freelance. I guess the lag is over and the jobs are gone (at least in LA).
Any ideas/recommendations where I should move to next? (I gave my 1 months notice at my apartment - leave end of may).
Thanks

ps - I'll probably post this again tomorrow when more people are awake.
- Pretty much a big drop off in all job boards looking for anyone - creative industries and beyond.babaganush
- Wouldn't move just yet as L.A. is by far the largest market for what you do.babaganush

You are in the prime spot right now. Everywhere else is shit. Seriously.

yeah, I agree with babaganush. If you can't find these kind of jobs in LA then you are going to have it a lot tougher in any other city.
I think there is still jobs there (I'm in san diego and I get some gigs up there) maybe agencies are not hiring full time, but because of the economy its a great time to be freelancing, so companies don't have to worry about to support you when the job is over.

owning a motion studio in LA the trend seems to be to hire your go to freelancers more than taking risks on new talent. with the economy still kind of dry the consistent frame of mind is to play it safe wherever possible. Answer? like always and more so than ever, make sure your work is badass beyond requirement so that you demand the needs of studios no matter what. Thats what we look for when hiring

I appreciate the responses, but I failed to mentioned that also, I hate living in LA with a white hot passion (if you want reasons, I'll be more than happy to list them - caution, it's a long list).
Would love to get into a job in london, or amsterdam; Maybe I'll move back to NYC, but chances are my rent controlled loft is way gone. Oh well, brooklyn, here I come.

now that I can understand...
but if your decision was mainly because no mograph.. then well you read everyone responses here- kind of based on motionographer - there seems to be only a few of the "same-old same-old" - ie fish and eggs, picagency . posting.
Besides design in motion, and motionographer, are there other job boards?frediscrazy

I was looking for junior jobs in the industry, in said west coast city, and got very discouraged quickly...but also I was looking for fulltime and am junior, so theres gotta be nothing in that market right now. seems to be lots in nyc though so perhaps that is your best bet. living in la is a love/hate relationship, thats for sure. mostly hate. spiteful, spiteful, hate
