Is it possible to use fullsite flash animation and then do normal css over it? I swear ive seen something like this

getting css to sit over flash is a pain in the arse... well it was 4 years ago anyway.

You have an example jnr?

yes instead of using a static image background on a html site
- you need to mimik it...div over div. (or span over span or whatever container)uan
- Corvo20
If you set a container div with just the bg colour and 100% width and height, then you can set several div/layers of content with the z-index attribute. To use flash in one of them you just need to embed the transparent flash object in a given div hierarchy.

Acescence, you're right, or at least that was my experience, our app was clunky and slow, then suddenly fast, then slow on slightly older computers....
...also if user has 27 browser tabs and windows open like most ADD-infected people (me included) it's likely to be clunky too....
not sure about netbooks too....

OH OH PICK ME PICK ME!
div over div, with the wmode = transparent
just like everyone else suggested..

crappy technique

as long as you ignore IE6 anything's possible =)

Very easy to do. Just set the flash as wmode: opaque (uses far less resources as transparent, and does the trick), and then get you z-indexes values right.
Now if you're using any javascript effects on the html elements, expect some performance drops. Animation with javascript will get a bit jumpy - and be prepared to watch it glitch out like hell in Firefox 2 and IE6.

there was a similar question a while back and i'm sure ian said he'd solved it?
