"Property developers have failed to sell a single flat in east London’s brutalist landmark Balfron Tower, forcing them to withdraw 139 properties from the market and reconsider the future of the building."

    • Nothing sold? That's brutal mate...shapesalad
    • there's nothing more depressing or dystopian than brutalist architecture. especially when it rains._niko

The ULEZ zone of London was recently expanded to cover most of London. For those of you who aren't aware, ULEZ stands for:

    Ultra-Low English Zone.

In case this thread crops up when one of you is looking for tips for visiting London - I'd highly recommend booking slots at the 'SkyGarden' in the 'WalkieTalkie' tower - it's basically an open-access area at the top of one of the taller towers in The City. It's free, but you have to book in advance.

I don't do much touristy stuff, but we spent an hour and a half up there y'day, gawping down at the plebs and over the city. Really quite enjoyable, and dare I say it, better value for money than The Eye, which [admittedly, I've not been on - I just don't fancy it] although you get a view over Westminster, is expensive, you only spend so much of your time at the highest elevation, and you're stuck in a giant's suppository with no capacity for ambling about.

    .

Laterally, one place i've spent a lot of time in is Borough Market - do not, I repeat DO NOT go to borough market in summertime on a Saturday in the mid-afternoon. What were we thinking? I've never felt so on-the-spectrum. Too. Many. People.

Architecturally, the building inside is quite meh, but fuck me, I've never been on such quick lifts, lol.

    • I used to adore Borough Market when I lived in London.
Could I afford anything there? Fuck, no.
      But, I still loved it.

    • never go to borough market, full of vacant tourist ig-addicts. if you want the old bm vibe, you need to head down druid street.hans_glib
    • What we wanted - well, what SHE wanted - was to go and speak to her chums who work down there. But I'll suggest that next time, thanks!Nairn
