at the risk of being flogged and other kinds of sexual torture, i think the best NIN album was the Fragile. and my second favorite NIN album is The Slip.

I also like how he has set standards for himself. Like when he is talking about working with Maynard. Expecting anything coming from those 2 to be a "10". And if it is not, it won't be released.

hey, anyone else like the fragile? it was my favourite things too but seems to cop the most negativity for being pompous and over produced? if any double cd deserved that then surely that fucking 'melancholy ' smashing pumpkins thing deserves that. i mean i loved both cds of the fragile but a lot of double-releases can be filed under quantity over substance.
- i get paid $10 for every time i write the word 'that' apparently...airey
- fragile probably could have been better as a single album. but that stuff was the peak of his artform.emukid
- the fragile is fucking brilliantscarabin_net

i am an old school fan and dropped off - dont keep up with his releases, i think the last one was with teeth, before that was broken or fixed.. but what i really enjoyed was is take on innovation, and how marketing completely fucks it up and rules the game. his best example was the segment about the video game pitch. and then also about live concerts and his thoughts about charging and what not.. fuck man. he gets it. its all about the experience of a live show. you cant emulate that online.. at all. only at a show can you feel the music, and see the artist's chops put to the fire to perform. i really did dig that exchange.

I get a kick out of this tune, it sounds almost like Human League or something

Via twitter from himself:
"Stumbled across a personal fave I haven't heard for a while.
http://blip.fm/trent_reznor "- far & away one of my all time favourite nails tracks. i remember buying the TDTWWA single & listening to this track over & over. must have been 1998/9. ah, good times.caspar_v

yeah, he did do heroin for the record. i was at the show that got canclled in london because he'd OD'd. also listen to 'love is not enough' on his 'sober album' with_teeth. it's all about needles & veins, no question. also the title track uses metaphors commonly associated with heroin, not so much coke.

& back on topic - it's worth checking out the video about the NIN iphone app too:

quite something when you see it fully in action in that video.
