bored of London, need a change. Just wondering for people who've been to Oz - Sydney or Melbs, which one would you like better for living and working in?

Melbourne = New York-esque
Sydney = LA-esqueSydney's got much better beaches AND weather, but Melbourne's getting my vote.

Sydney first, until you get married, then Melbourne

I'm living in London at the moment but I'm from Melbourne originally. I'd say Melbourne's a bit more down-to-earth and Sydney's a bit more glam, but I'll always pick Melbourne – and no, it's not just for married people.

How do you plan in emmigrating there? didn't they just drop the amount of people they accept?

I lived in Sydney for almost 18months with my girlfriend (now fiance) - had a great time. Unfortunately every time we went to Melbourne the weather was piss-poor, so that kind of reflected how we felt about it.
Sydney was great in that for the most part the weather was awesome, the people I met were great, and I just loved the beaches!
I'd say Sydney, heck you can just catch an hours flight to Melbourne if you need a change...

I love Melbourne, never been to sydney, but reckon it's more 'corporate' and stuffy..
I really hope to be living in Melbourne sometime in the next 5 years.. fuck Europe...

Lived and worked in both. Melbourne gets my vote, great city.
Sydney is too showy for me, beautiful but shallow.
Back to Melbs in 3 months, can't wait!

sydney has it all - more design work in sydney (only slightly though). Sydney is full of natural beauty, and beautiful people (most people go to the gym reguly etc) and some people see this as shallow.
Melbourne I think is more like london - bad weather but has more activities to do inside where bad weather doesnt matter much (museums, galleries etc).
Sydney is more expensive though, but then again your salary will be slightly higher too. if you are moving to get more sun, spend more time outdoors then def sydney. if you want more galleries, culture, then melbourne

In terms of work, to be honest, I can't think of one good studio in sydney [other than Toko]..

Melbourne Rules! I like Sydney too...
...but not as much as Melbourne. I live in Perth. Fail.
