Sorry, what i meant to say was - why they are angry and rioting when it comes to these G20 meetings. I'm only referring to G20, why makes them so mad about it. Every year I hear about the rioting, back to when it was still G5...
- GeorgesII0
they are angry because everyone is getting fucked hardcore,
they could care less about the G20, but this is a special time to show to the deciders that we are the one paying the bills not them,

@ soulfly - different groups have different issues:
there are trade unions that oppose neo-liberalism and the increased job insecurity, concentration of corporate power etc.
there are environmental groups that oppose the environmental destruction caused by neo-liberal economics
there are development activists that oppose the trade rules that favour the rich countries at the expense of poor countries leading to poverty, starvation etc
there are church groups that seek justice across all areas of live including trade rules and the economy - fair trade and the redistribution of wealth..
there are anarchist groups that oppose all forms of statism and will use whatever means to make their point (99.9% of the time this is by peaceful means but the press love a bit of smashy smash)
there are anti-war groups that see most forms of state terrorism such as in Iraq as part of the neo-liberal context
there are regular people that are not really activists but are so pissed off at the economic system and the people who have made shit of it. old people who have lost their pensions, working class regulars who have lost their jobs and students who see an insecure future are all out to make their point.
the G20 is unelected. who do they represent? who are they accountable to? who are they?
and as for the rioting... riots are ingrained in all european political struggles. they are part and parcel of european politics BUT lots of the press in the last few years has highlighted the underhand tactics of the police and the way in which they inflame people to the point of rioting...
but after all - if you haven't exposed yourself to the corruption of power and how that corrupt power fucks over billions of people it'll be hard to join in a riot.

20 g-spots.. hmmm...

Trade unions, environmentalists, people in favour of "redistribution", people who think governments sholud provide jobs or take on their mortgage risks and in the end those weird European anarchists, who dream of freedom through the ultimate totalitarianism known to man: communism.
To sum it up, all these groups want more government control. Are they paid for by G20? They should be, to be fair!
- lowimpakt0
who says they want more government control?
for lots of the groups it's the opposite - some oppose all state control, others want any state control to be more accountable to the people.
The "redistribution of wealth" isn't always the communist/statist legacy you may be mistaking it for - it is the redistribution of wealth through sharing opportunity, fair trade, more global accountability, trade rule that are just and not inhumane etc.
it does get complicated because pure anarchist ideals are very close to radical free market capitalism.
- "Wealth distribution" was a social issue long before Karl Marx popped on the sceneTheBlueOne

raf,
who are the G20?
did you voted for them?
did you think anything good will come out of this meeting?people are manifesting because they want to feel like their governemnt is working for them, not for some behind the curtain master.
do you think all the people manifesting are jobless or anarchist? no, they are normal beeing whom decided to move their ass of their sofas to make themselve heard,as of the rioter, its been shown countless time that lots of them are agents provocateur, they've been used before (look at quebec and genova),
have you seen what happend in finland, they went from top to less than bottom ,
now the US and UK started printing money again, it will not end well, it never does.

some of these "people with influence" need their underpants dragged up to their arms
- flashbender0
I went to the rally last weekend and learned that "men in suits" are to blame for all this.
So my solution to the problem is to make the wearing of suits illegal.
Problem solved. You're welcome world.

Is anyone joining in tomorrow? IF so, which station are you marching from?
I'm heading to london Bridge for the Crimes against Finance March.
Going back to lowimpakt's points - I am a regular bloke who lost his job, and after reading books by Oliver James and Robert Peston have had my eyes opened by the enormous gap in wealth in this country.
Just feel compelled to join in - and like Moth - will be taking a camera, so hopefully I can get some great shots!
- I thought you were a recruitment consultant beachboy?********

Well said lowimpakt.
raf - i always find ideologues and dogmatist have a problem in formulating a balanced position on things. I know its hard not to be emotionally attached to your views, having endured Communist Poland and everyfink... still tho... time to let go xx

The bbc are interviewing some right monkeys. Half the protesters barely have a concise reason why they are even there.
