got a popup (osx) saying my wireless connection has been compromised and will be shutdown for a minute. does this mean someone actually broke in?

According to the Apple User Forums, it’s not necessarily that you network has been broken into, but it may have been. They suggest using use WPA2 encryption rather than WEP.

Thanks for checking. I'm already using WPA, it just freaked me out. I thought macs were safe and secure.

Someone with enough skills and time can crack WPA-PSK with TKIP. All wireless users should be updating their software/firmware and using WPA2 Personal with AES encryption. Nobody's hacked that one yet.

i just used a stern warning for my unsecured wireless network's name... to date not one person has logged into "illbuttrapeifyoustealmyinternet... and I'm going to keep my internet unsecured!
