I'm so glad there's something being done about this. If Obama actually follows through with his plan, it will hopefully set a precedent, a precedent I'd like to see taken up in Australia with the likes of Pacific Brands. They took a massive payout from the government, sacked 1800 workers, then the CEO got a >100% salary bonus. It makes me sick.

"How do they justify this outrage to the taxpayers who are keeping the company afloat?"
since when has big business justified anything to anyone other than shareholders?
- since the taxpayers are in effect major shareholders these days.....bolus

- taxpayers dont get that amount of money(some might, the minus), dickhead********

'outrage'.
It's nearly as scary as saying you're very, very cross.
- I took it from the article. I think I articulated it better further down where I said 'it makes me sick'BuddhaHat

you don't understand the stress they have to go through + all the daily dramas.

The only shocking thing about it is that anybody believed it would be otherwise. How can people be so naive? All these "bailouts", "stimuluses" are planned acts of gigantic theft, sometimes with a bit of flaky makeup and nice wording from el presidente. Just like "Iraq rebuilding" or most US military operations were in recent years.
These are ways to transfer money from your pocket to other people's wallets.

Not a single sane taxpayer would voluntarily chip a dollar in to support badly managed private corporations. But here's the good cop, the one who will bring you a cup of coffee after the bad cop beat you:
"How do they justify this outrage to the taxpayers who are keeping the company afloat," the president said.

Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley suggested that AIG executives should resign or kill themselves.
"I suggest, you know, obviously, maybe they ought to be removed," Grassley said. "But I would suggest the first thing that would make me feel a little bit better toward them if they'd follow the Japanese example and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say, I'm sorry, and then either do one of two things: resign or go commit suicide.

Hope these execs keep the addresses of the mansions and plush weekend homes a tightly guarded secret! I don't think I have ever seen this country so close to goin "pitchfork and torch". And, to be honest, its about time!

You know, just like Saudia Arabia is were the real Islamic radicalism was funded and fueled, yet we go after Afghanistan and Iraq, the real bad guys are at Galdman Sachs and the Federal Reserve Banks.
AIG is the fall guy. Not saying their underwriting of all the CDS doesn't warrant cleaning the house, but for whom did they underwrite all these DCS for exactly...you know, follow the money, cui bono, etc...
- Goldman. not Galdman...TheBlueOne
- For the record I like Gallman.tommyo

Save some outrage for Citibank and Morgan Stanley as well:
"Anticipating restrictions on bonuses, officials at Citigroup Inc and Morgan Stanley are exploring ways to sidestep tough new federal caps on compensation, the Wall Street Journal said.
Executives at these banks and other financial institutions that received government aid are discussing increasing base salaries for some executives and other top-producing employees, the paper said, citing people familiar with the situation.
The discussions are at an early stage, partly because the government has not yet issued specific rules on the bonus payments that will be allowed at companies that received aid under the government's Troubled Asset Relief Program, the paper said."

Yup. "Free" market economics. Transparent as fuck and all privileged, leveraged asymmetrical information as far as you can see.
- You have government messing with the market for years, subsidizing, guaranteeing and now you blame free market?raf

Is this how it all begins?

our resources will help us vent and nothing will be done.
when they ask what you did, most will say nothing. we will write about it(blog, articles, speech, a letter to a congressman or something...) at the end an investigation and federal morphine message to the public. Someone gets slapped in the hand and thats it. Like Madoff, he gets the slap along with others like his family....and most say, "good, rot in hell" What about the exchange commision that was a big eye watching them all, nothing happen to them. So just the same AIG executives get the slap but our government - nothing. I will do nothing like most. Long live america! :P

The outrage should be pointed towards the Obama administration who WROTE AIG'S BAILOUT PLAN. YES, his treasury secretary (TurboTax Tim) wrote the plan and FORGOT to address bonuses.
Therefore, the fact that Obama came out yesterday and lambasted the bonus recipients is a JOKE!!!
Also, please note, TheBlueOne is an idiot and a communist.
- Wow. Fuck you you fascist dick.TheBlueOne
- Obama is not one of them, he's the good cop! Leave our boy alone, he wanted to do good!raf
- Bush also wanted to do good, but that's not an excuse for massive fuck ups.ipissexcellence
- What everything has to be mandated? AIG can't think for themselves when it came to bonuses during this mess.ETM

- Previous admin? In the mono-party system the US has?..raf
- you're skirting the issue you brought up.DrBombay
- That's a generalization I agree, but I say both parties are closer to themselves and their sponsors than their electorate.raf
