I have a client who would like to create an online image gallery of historical images. They have about 5,000 images now and it will probably grow to 10,000 images eventually. Of course this site needs to be searchable and all. It also needs to maintainable by folks who are comfortable on computers but not web developers at all.
I have no idea where to begin with this. Any ideas?

i do this type of job often, it requires a fairly simple cms gallery with upload option, so i'll ask again, budget?

start by researching stock photography sites which have large databases of images.

http://www.gettyimages.com/creat…a project like this can be a monster though especially implementing a search that is viable for all the images involved.
- the cms can support tags titles descriptions authors, the search can be set to scan all/any of theseversion3
- yeah but setting tags on 5-10,000 images is what takes time. especially if the images are a wide variety.moveinspace
- that's the client's fault, not ours :Dversion3

Well, budget is a great question. At this point I am really just putting together a proposal. Is there anyway to ballpark it?
