Are the colours they select actually printable based colours? It doesn't seem to indicate this detail although does imply its for fabric / paint colours. Seems strange they wouldn't also have similar in their Coated Process etc range.
Specifically I'm looking to get Red Hot Chili Pepper / 19-1557 (2007s winner) as a colour in indesign/quark.. no luck so far.
Anyone know the details on these? Cheers

That's probably a Pantone GOE number. Totally different than the Pantone Matching System.
- In fact, based on the numbering method, I'm sure it's a GOE color.Scotch_Roman

No idea over here - hence my quest.. taken from:
http://www.pantone.com/pages/pan…You'd think they must have a reference to match both or at least some kind of breakdown.

It's a Pantone Textile swatch color. Download the library here (Illustrator).
- is this just for textiles ?liveforever
- Never mind, it's not the proper swatch file.5timuli
- the registered TCX/TPX illy swatches must be purchased from Pantone. i have seen some home-jobs on the adobe forums.inkpink

yes they are fashion/interior trend colors, for dipping fabric. Pantone XX-XXXX TPX and TCX, they have no reference to cmyk print, nor do the swatchbooks follow any logical chromatic organization. The registered Pantone TPX and TCX swatches are actually rgb values.
in other words, ignore unless your are doing custom textiles. the books cost a small fortune.

Strange one. Apparently GOE (which I had never come across) is the colours in between the colours. New colours, new code, new expense column in the accounts!
Cheers for the feedback - I have already gone back to the client and mentioned its a no go - last time they through me a hexachrome to use and the printer freaked.
Ill try the 201 and see how that works.
danke.

- why tell them its a no go? just a color reference. use 201c and they won't know the diff.inkpink

just to clarify the GOE system and fashion TPX/TCX chips have no relation to each other.

very busy sir. and don't log in! and don't ask many questions.. and...
the works keeping me on my toes put it that way! this question is for the moonlighter in me though - so keeping me on everyones toes!Inkpink - it's a no go coz I'll tell them we are using something else! otherwise it'll get complicated later on. A good match is fine to swap to and I'll let them pick 201 or 200 - it also depends on how the yellow/black sit on the coulors.
Thanks for input though - appreciate it and has boosted my pantone knowledge (I do far too much digital these days!) For reference.. keep an eye out for the RED issue when its out - will be online/in shop April... http://turpsbanana.com

Does that actually look like Emerald on anyone's monitors?

The emerald looks like an emerald colour. The swatch looks like someone tried to match something as close as possible that could actually be printed (by most printers) lol
