Hi all is possible to create a gradient mask directly in Indesign CS4?

You should not be trying to create gradient masks directly in InDesign. Use Photoshop or Illustrator (layers, my friend) and Place them, like you're supposed to.

you can use some of the feather effects to create a gradient type mask. But beware -- it's not friendly to print production.

I agree that you should do it in IL or PS. But it's called Gradient Feather in Indesign and it's an Object Effect.
