Growing up, I learned not to care about racist in general and believe me it was way trendier than it is now,
making this big fuss about it just because its obama won't change a thing, it will just give the racist people the justification that people of "color" are whiny bitches,
I'm not, I grew out it and I really don't care what people think about me of my skin color,
this cartoon was a huge bait and everyone bite it,
is it more offensive than any southpark episode??racism is something that crawls back into a hole if you ignore it,
so just ignore it,

It's not inherently racist. You definitely have to read into it. The people that think it's blatantly racist believe that from they're own subjectivity.
Art can easily be misinterpreted, which in a way is the beauty of it....similar to when metaphors are used in writing...often times the point is to leave it up to the individual to interpret it and get their own meaning from it. This may not apply as much to a comic strip, but the bottom line is this could have easily been created without the artist seeing the racial connection.

Coming late to this party...
It is understandable that anyone with no connection to that really ugly period in US history (be it through study, tales from grand parents, or first hand experience) might find this cartoon somewhat benign.Conversely, for those who know exactly why Billie Holiday sang "Strange Fruit", it is an outrage. It evokes images of Saturday night lynching parties, Emmitt Till, and burning churches.
Yes. There were a number of comparisons of Bush to monkeys, but those were based on his general buffoonery, not racial hatred.
And believe me - if any of those images had contained monkeys shot dead, the creator of said images would be spending the rest of his life in the belly of some nameless prison.
