I have done some wordpress customization here and there the past few months. This weekend i took up making myself a portfolio using it more as a cms than a blog tool.
After putting some demo cases in i realized i had no idea how to manually reorder the content? Its sorting ascending and descending by date from what i know.
Anyway i can rearrange the order manually after making all the content posts? And by this i dont mean sort by category or tag. Just manually select the order of wich they appeir in index.
I know i could resort to making pages for them but id rather use posts for this keep pages out of it for now because pages would have me making php edits rather than using wp as it is.

soooo, what's the question?

rofl sorry! i meant to say "anyway can i rearrange the order manually.." not i can, can i. yeah

ahh right. as far as i know (which is between fuck all and little-to-none) you can apply ID's to the posts the same as pages, which would let you choose then to stack the ID's in whatever order you require in the homepage.
it's beyond me how so i'd probably just alter the posting dates in an order that would stack them correctly and create a wrapper div class with display:none around the date so as to hide that from users. obviously a terrible solution but with my complete lack of php it's a quick fix.

yeah thanks. thats a good idea. cant seem to find a way to edit post ids however

dang. i guess then you could just load the IDs into the homepage in the order you want?

yeah but that requires making hashes of ids in the php and i want to avoid that. i just want to be able to drag and drop the order of the posts in the admin interface and keep the coding to a minimum =)
after im done with the skinning that is

what i meant was placing a string in the homepage that lists the IDs of the posts you want to show, which would obviously list them in the order you create the string in. the issue with that obviously is that it would need to be manually updated every time you wanted new content in there.
sorry i'm no help!
maybe something here might help? http://wpcandy.com/

you could add a custom field to your posts, then sort based on the value of that field.
you could even get fancy and show the ones with custom field first in the order you'd like, then the rest below in chronological order

check this page, query based on custom field...

wordpress is best for blogs imo

if you're doing lots of cms work with wp, custom fields will become your friend. once you wrap your head around getting the data out of the db the way you need it and the template php involved, you can handle just about any need.
also, if you want to make your life easier, start with a stripped down "naked" them...
