ahh right. as far as i know (which is between fuck all and little-to-none) you can apply ID's to the posts the same as pages, which would let you choose then to stack the ID's in whatever order you require in the homepage.
it's beyond me how so i'd probably just alter the posting dates in an order that would stack them correctly and create a wrapper div class with display:none around the date so as to hide that from users. obviously a terrible solution but with my complete lack of php it's a quick fix.
