Depends what you like/don't like. Very open ended question really. Much like anywhere else in the world there is lots there to like, and lots not to like.

Tonsi beach in Krabi, amazing blend of cliffs, rockclimbing, jungle, sand, sea and monkeys. I was there in Jan and it rocked! Pi is also meant to be good, love Chang Mai / Chang Rai, too

Kidswift - I might be heading to Thailand soon myself. Do you recommend any acommo in or around Krabi?

Don't. Go. To. Pattaya.
Bangkok is a trip - but I wouldn't reccomend more than a few days there. I can second Krabi.
If you don't mind travelling a bit and spending money to get there - you won't find any better than the islands in and around Phang Nga Bay.

ko samet is nice since there's a lot less tourists. close to bangkok.

Don't go near Phuket it's like Blackpool.
Krabi and the surrounding area is nice and particularly mellow [the lads in the harbour area can help you out, if you know what i mean]
Kho Samui and Kho Pan Ngan are nice except around the full moon when they turn into Glastonbury.
Bankok is ace but very big and a bit scary in some places. The kho san rd is good for cheap tat and fakes and there a couple of good bars around there if you need to see some fellow travellors - which i would recommend as a half hour conversation and some beers with an experienced travellor is invaluable.
Eat anything and everything.
Drugs are not legal and/or tolerated but you can buy you way out of trouble.
Don't take much luggage with you.- HAhaha spoken like a true veteran...jevad
- It's amazing what you can get from Google Earth these days ; )Morning_star

Bangkok is kinda a shithole, and like Jevad, I wouldn't recommend spending more than a few days there. If you do go though, definitely check out the Chatuchak Market (or "Jatujak" or "JJ" market) on the weekends. That's pretty awesome. And get a massage at Healthland. There are two locations, and for something like $12, you can get a ridiculous, 2-hour Thai massage.
I second Chiang Mai as well. It's pretty touristy, but far more relaxed than Bangkok.
- This 2-hour massage that you speak of does it include happy ending?ok_not_ok

I forgot.
Be nice and polite and aware of local greetings/customes. Learn a few words. I found that Thai folk are, by nature , generous and friendly and a little effort will reap it's own rewards.

this is a good place to stay in Bangkok:
http://www.reflections-thai.com/…I also like ChangDao up north of ChangMai.
And KohTao has nice diving in the Gulf.

Bangkok's interesting but after a couple of days in I thought I was going insane. Chiang Mai is nice. Went to the island of Koh Tao, very nice, especially if you're into diving. Oh yeah... you might notice that the national anthem is played twice a day at 8 a.m and 6 p.m. Wherever you are you should be prepared to stop what you are doing and stand up politely.

I forgot, try to catch a kickbox match. Craaaazy

i heard the summer is off peak... any reason for this? i definitely don't mind hot weather, and im looking to find cheap airfare from the east coast us. any places there that are low key like Krabi? sounds like that place might be perfect.

If you are staying at Bangkok, it´s really worth to go to this restaurant:
http://www.virtualtourist.com/tr…It´s called Ban Chiang. I can honestly say it´s one of the best restaurants I have ever been..

Everyone I know who went to Thailand, when they got back their penises fell right off. They're starting to clutter up the streets.

spent 3 months in hut on Long beach in Ko Lanta. Lovely place.
Spent 2 months in a hut on Bottle beach on Ko phang yang (can never spell it), which was stunning.Everyone elses advice is about right too... Visiit Krabi, Samui, the more remote bits of Phuket, but stay in places like Lanta, Phang yang, Ko Tao and Phra Thong.
I'm in disagreement about Bangkok, I love the place, but that might of been because it was cheap, but I like the buzz of the place.
Get oop north to Chang Mai too...
if you're travelling, get yourself over the border to Cambodia, and if it's a beach you're looking for, the best one after 2 years of travelling was the Perethian islands just over the Malay border.
anyway great place, great food, you'll love it
