You guys think freelance going to get worst because of all the recent layoffs trying to freelance work?
- i hope not.akrokdesign
- absolutely. I got laid off and where I used to just do freelance here & there, I am now forced to focus on freelance alone.zenfulbeauty

I'm looking at a project outside design at the moment because I'm finding print design thin on the ground.
I do wish I was more of a digital designer right now.
- yeah, brushing on those skills. might be a must.akrokdesign
- agreed
Bypasser - There's less demand for digital designers but lots of demand for web developers.....chuparosa

there also plenty of designers who works for peanuts. i know, their quality might be zero. still, the first time client don't know.
same thing with firms in london. i heard that there been switching to polish firms as they are way cheaper.
- I'm doing freelance in london and haven't noticed anything of that...modernstyle

Wolfboy, you seriously need to work on your salespitch. This is your bio on a design industry site where loads of people including myself look for freelancers:
"I generally go about things half cocked and arse over tit. I've started my own thing now after I was twice made redundant (not by the same company either) and I still need to sort out the webshite and so on.
One day though, things will run smoothly."
This bio does not inspire confidence.
- slightly laidback, what's wrong with that :Pmodernstyle
- haha cant say mines any better.sofakingbanned
- at the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, if YOU don't think you're worth employing, neither will anyone else!vespa
- sofakingbanned, at least yours doesn't sell yourself as a shit designer. you don't have a portfolio tho so you look like a chancer.vespa
- ... chancer.vespa

I think I just asked for the redundanncy now actually. how about that... 3 months. tax free, n a months pay notice or so, n holidays as well I think... some crazy times.

I always find it strange how some people struggle to find freelance work, while others are tripping over it...
I guess a lucky break goes a long way...
- its about being a savvy entrepreneur in addition to being a good designer. Some have little of either.monkeyshine

Seems to come in streaks. I've had some good opportunities in NY recently.

Chicago is pretty busy. last time i went to the meet up group; people definitely felt the slow down but still working and have something lined up. good sign in the windy city.
