I filmed this back in 1989, digitised it this weekend from vhs and uploaded it.
happy days ..."Fish Hae Gills! Ken Whit Eh Mean?"

The Factory
@ Arthurstone Terrace Dundee
Filmed around 1989The Factory It was an old disused and derelict factory building just behind the city centre. For a year or two we went religiously at the weekends and holidays.
It was the older skaters that illegally broke into the place and built some amazing half pipes and street obstacles. There was always lots of wood and nails lying about, so as you can see from the video new ramps and obstacles were getting made all the time.
To get in sometimes you had to scale the building, climb over a hot tile roof then climb down into the main courtyard - then you had the massive sliding wooden door to get in. And if it was locked you were f*cked and you had to wait while someone came with a key (if you couldnt break in) - usually that time would be spend going to the local corner shop for crisps, chocolate or ice poles.
Even know the corners and backrooms stunk of piss and the occasional heroin needle was found, the place was still paradise for a bunch of teenagers.

Hahaha Nice one Kon. Excellent vid. Love the quality of it and the fact that its just kids deciding what they want to do and getting on with it. Amazing organisational skills to get that place built. Shame that kind of thing is not allowed these days.
Soundtrack: Jesus Jones???

Cheers Horp. Yeah it's Jesus Jones "Liquidizer" album, classic, eh?
Aye you wouldnt get away with that kind of thing these days. I dont know why we all got away with it for so long, maybe the council turned a blind eye cos it kept us off the streets, i dunno.
Was such an exciting place and yeah it was just all organised by the kids for the kids.
The titles on the video are class - my dads video camera had the feature to be able to add titles by "grabbing" them from being on a bit of paper in front of the camera - then you pressed the title 1 or 2 button. technology!!!!
It was a guy at my dads work who overdubbed the soundtrack as home editing was an unheard of thing back then - a lot easier these days!Cant believe this video is 20 years old!

theres a video taken at the same skatepark around the same time - it was shot by the DHSS skate team - local dundee team. This video is a bit more pro than mines with the use of editing haha and access to some nice wide angle lenses obviously.
