My phone contract is up for renewal and I'm presented with an opportunity... should I upgrade to an iPhone?
I feel like I'd be following the herd but I've seen the really good apps you can get for it, so... so... tempted.

Well... why not?

There must be something wrong with it.... just something to balance the argument. How can anything be that good? lol.

You could get a lobotomy too.
The thing about those apps and all the clever stuff those iphones do... its a novelty that wears off after an hour and then your left with an underperforming handset on a wallet draining contract.
Do yourself a favour, go and spend an hour diddling about with a mate's, get it out of your system, get bored of the pinch/zoom and the gyroscopic novelty of making boobies shake on screen, then go and buy a phone.
- thats ' a phone' not 'an iphone'.Horp
- depends if you want just a phoneribit

- There ya go. Built in obsolescence through redundancy is Apple's core business strategy.Horp

What apps have you seen.
I have only given into the iphone because a client of mine gave me his.
I am yet to get a contract with O2.Compatiblity for mac: contacts, ical, itunes, etc. is great (as expected) that is the main reason why I would have one. There are some crap things about it and I am yet to decide if it is worth the £150 price tag

i dont buy into the whole apple thing but like you my phone was up for renewal and i went for the iphone for everything it offered and havent regretted my decision.
its simplicity is wonderful

Haven't Nokia released an iphone equivalent?
- booya0
@Dancer.
Ok.. i dont actually own a Mac, will i be losing out on alot of functionality?
- Dancer0
No. But it has helped me organise my life a lot easier. I am pretty sure there is compatability with Outlook/whatever but don't quote me on it

If you want a fancy phone get an iPhone, everything else on the market is pretty terrible. If you don't get an iPhone then just get something basic and cheap

i'd prefer to get a windows based mobile phone anyway, as HTC above, as it allows more apps developed by users and there's more of em that are cross compatible across phones, and they're easy to get off torrents. And you can get Windows Mobile TomTom which is good...
- Its piss easy to steal all the apps you want for the iPhone, even easier than windows mobilemodern

I got one to replace my old dying ipod and my older dying phone. However, I waited until both these items were on their last legs to buy the iphone which would replace both items.
Previously I was getting a shit deal on vodaphone with my contract so my new o2 plan is saving me money, the price of the phone was similar to other phones I was looking at so it was fine sparking out the cash for it.
That being said, there are probably cheaper options so if you're just looking for a phone then just pick up a cheapo version that makes and receives calls (which is all my last one did).
