  now a days you can do with out graphics at all , CSS can do gradients , rounded edges , etc

  if you like glossy look and stripes , sure ps wont hurt ,

  meant more in line that it was possible to "simulate" graphics , but obviously the content will dictate what is needed for presentation purposes
