A good friend of mine has a fashion blog she began a year or so ago. She's bummin because someone saw her blog and (admittedly) ripped the idea. Not that competition is a bad thing... so I'm more wondering if the message of being a fashion 'blog' is better than having a more engineered site? Any thoughts or inspiration to pass on to her would be greatly appreciated.
hers: sugarrockcatwalk.com
other: http://www.inourcloset.com/blog/…

I don't get it. There is more than one fashion blog in the world, no?

the "other" is much better actually
- THA0
where's this "rip"? dont see it

I don't know who the fuck these other people are, but unless they are ripping photos and direct articles ... bum on.
Seriously?

it's whether the idea of a blog minus endorsement or commercial interest (knowing inourcloset has commercial intent) holds more clout when it comes to opinion this kind of thing... that was my question.

I’m bumming too, but I think she’s doing it wrong.

No.

not about looks...
I can very easily gather that the 2nd blog looks more polished.
Just thought that concept wise, in an area where legitimacy is gathered from independence from commercial intentions, the voice that appears less effected by the ads paying to keep their site up might be a little more reliable.

Without reading the written articles word-for-word, I don't think there's a rip here. If so, then this becomes a case of TheSuperficial ripped Perez Hilton ripped TMZ ripped The Enquirer ripped Star...

stupid shit, it's a generic subject

Just trying to help a friend out...
And thanks for all the constructive comments. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep.

I can't rally tell that one is commercial and the other is not, to answer your question. But I am also not the audience for this, so to a fashion person maybe it would make a difference:)

you and your friend are absolute morons.
Is this a fucking joke? does she think she OWNS the concept of a blog about fashion??? There have got to be thousands of blogs on the subject.
Also, your friends blog is very plain and doesn't look interesting. While the other actually has some sort of style.
- morons huh.. Nice name douche. Go post a cat pic and catch a fap...ntslide

I think you'd have to delineate just what it is that's been "ripped". If none of the smart folks on here get it - maybe it's just not that obvious.
Would a person who goes to your friends site intrinsically know about the other blog? I have to say, I don't see much on your friend's site that is "new" or rippable - if you know what I mean - but kudos to her if someone thought her idea was good enough to take.
I get what you mean about the other blog being more "commercial", but personally don't see it. I feel that the other site uses better photography and is more design conscious - which speaks to the people who would normally read this stuff and care "what we're wearing" - but that doesn't make it more "commercial" per se.
