So after swethering over various little hatches, i've put a deposit on a Mini Cooper S and will be picking it up on friday (pending an AA inspection thats happening today).
The mini was always on the backburner as contender, the only thing was the price that was putting me off - compared to other cars.
And yes I know the build and quality does account for a lot for the cost. But was still enough to think about something else. After hours n hours of online searching over the past few weeks and a good few viewings I went to see one on sunday.
Not only is the car an amazing deal (around £2000 less than parkers book price!) but the guy offered me a better deal on a trade in on my roadster that other garages were offering and £250 more than Parkers value for it).Isnt this Credit Crunch wonderful? :)
Now, if only property prices would fall so stupidly too .............
(pick up car friday so shall take some pics n post 'em up)

Congratulations Kon. Nothing like the feeling you get from switching cars.
I say that through gritted teeth though as I grew up in the shadow of the Longbridge Rover plant which was raped, pillaged and left for dead by those BMW cunts, so unfortunately I do hope you're new car proves to be utter shite if I'm absolutely honest.
= D
- Never call it a mini in my presence, thats all. Its no a mini its a BMW.Horp

You should have bought a 1998 TVR cerbera. I am intending buying one of these in a couple of years or a chimera whichever I get the opportunity to buy first.

I have a mini cooper S and I fucking love it...
Clarkson was saying that he'd have a cooper S over a Zonda any day in this months mag.
Anyone who think's they're gay hasn't driven one.

Chossy, my car is parked onstreet in the city centre.
i'm paranoid enough about my wee roadster sitting there in the evenings because its such a rare little car and grabs peoples attention.
this was why i was considering the C2 VTS / Swift Sport / Twingo GT etc ... sporty wee fun cars but popular cars so wouldnt stand out shouting "look at me" in the street.
although the mini is flashy, they are pretty much commonplace these days so wouldnt necessarily grab some pissed c*nts attention as he's walking home and decide to steal bumper plastic clips for a laugh or aerial or decide to run his keys up it (not had the latter done tho).Another reason for going for this particular mini was that it is showroom condition yet is more of a bargain than I could get any of the other cars id been looking at - plus with FAR more power and build quality .... really, id have deserved a punching if i turned it down.
If I stayed in suburbia or had a drive/garage then yes of course id have a crazy TVR or Lotus or something like that.
Horp, certainly is bad crack with BMW and Longbridge Rover which probably more rings true with you as you live around there and have seen the effects of the shutdown and the unemployment.
Pretty sure that most car manufacturers f*ck people over in some way or an other though, whether presently or in the past.
It's business!
People will get things made where they can do so for the least money.Call centres are coming back to the UK now because the pound is so shite against foreign currencies. It is costing call centres MORE to pay some guy in India to answer the phones than it costs someone in the UK to do the same these days.

Sky2x
The Mini's (sorry Horp, the "BMW's") up to 2004? were SuperCharged and not the Turbo. Its the later and current ones that have a Turbo.
Mines is a 2004 reg.

Chossy, whats a "Non NA"?
Roundabout - I totally agree with you on the interior, I really dislike the grey/silver tubular bars n shit like that. Its not enough to put me off though, the build quality of the interior is far superior to the other cars id been looking at (even thouugh the styling might be pisher).

- Technically this is of the Exige, but I'm right behind him. . .

I mean 0-60 in 6.5 half seconds for the price is brilliant.
Golf GTi does it in 7.2 for example.
The mini S is as quick as a Golf GTi and cheaper and lighter and holds it's value. It's a great buy. But hey I'm Biased :)
