Need a new pair for my iPod.
Anyone tried the new Apple In-Ear Headphones?

They're a step up from the included earbuds and 10 steps down from everything else you should spend your money on

Hmm are they 10 steps down from other in-ear earphones or big noise-cancelling headphones though? I just want a small pair of earphones.. dont want big headphone jobbies.
The Sennheiser CX 400-II Precision Headphones look good. I''ve heard good things about Sony and Shure earphones too.

Sennheiser CX400 are excellent for the price. I got a brand new pair fully boxed etc off eBay for £15.
See a review of them here:

Ok well I decided against the Apples. I've already been through 2 pairs of their old design in-ear earphones... sorry Apple, you had your chance!
Then I read great things about the Sennheiser CX400, but I don't like the split-cable design. So I plumped for the cheaper CX300, and actually read reports that they can sound better that the 400s. Plus only £8.50 inc postage from China! Gotta love eBay.
- Good choicefodcj
- watch out .. a lot of the CX300's on ebay are fakes********

Watch out for fake sennheisers on ebay.

V-Moda Vibe Duo
http://www.v-moda.com/headphones…Great headphones, well constructed, great sound, great customer service.
- they're a lot more than the Sennheisers, but they do look good...Nightshade

My CX300s arrived today (10 days from China to UK). Very pleased with them, must better sound than the standard iPod earphones - far deeper bass and much less 'flat' sounding. I would recommend them to anyone still using the standard 'phones, especially if you can find them for £8.50!

I second the V-moda Vibe Duo. I've had a pair for over a year now, had an issue with the right mic/ear piece, and they just replaced the entire thing for free within a week so I have a brand new pair. Great customer service...although after I went to the post office to mail the bum pair, I walked out of the post office, turned to the right, and realized the V-moda building I was shipping the headphones to was a half a block away. Doh.

So, after 3+ years, my Bose Quiet Comfort 3's have broken(snapped where the arch meets the earpiece, YaY!). I'm thinking of going the in-ear route this time as I find the over ear route get's painful after a few hours of use. Don't think I'll ever buy Bose again.
I'm looking to spend $200-$350 and have done research on the following:
Sennheiser IE7's:
Shure(SE 420's):
Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5pro:
M-Audio IE-40 (very similar to the UE's):
I was just wondering if anyone has used any of the above and what their personal experience has been? I'm sure most of these are of similar quality and I'll be using them to DJ/mix and while at work, hence the sound isolation.
Cheers in advance.
- I have both Quiet Sound 3s and the in-ear BOSE headphone, nothing beats them!CodenameAM

I have some ultimate ears customs, you have to go to an ear doctor and get molds of your ears made. i don't know that the others will provide the isolation you need for djing in super loud environments.
- Yeah, a friend has a custom pair too, pretty sweet. He paid $1200 for them, but he's a guitar tech.Andrew_D
- Don't think I'll be DJ'ing super loud environments, so I should get away with -26db.Andrew_D
- yeah, they're not cheap. I guard them with my life! I use them as in-ear monitors while drumming.acescence

- Yup, hard to argue with these badboys.Andrew_D

in-ear headphones can't come close to the sound you can get from on-ear headphones though.
- you've never tried good in-ear monitors.acescence
- you're right, but pound for pound on-ear can't be beat correct?_niko
- Possibly, but that's a different argument. Personlly, I just feel like a mug walking around with outer ears on.detritus
- incorrect. all depends on the brand. and yes, you look like a complete tool walking around with headphones on.Invalid
