oh man, i'm from MD and lived in Blatimore for 3 years. it's the fucking grossest place on the planet with some of the worst people you'll ever meet.
oh yea, don't ever drive when it snows, people in baltimore go fucking apeshit when it snows and all kill each other on 83.

baltimore.

I'd rather move to Cleveland and that's second to the last place I'd ever live.

as a struggling or up and coming creative, artist, designer or anything remotely related, baltimores amazing, because if you can hack it there for every negative reason mentioned, anywhere else is a cake walk (except maybe trenton or a shanti town in mumbai)

Baltimore is just what you make of it .. I used to live at Park Ave, really close to campus for as far as mica has a campus, quite a nice area .. I definitely had a good time and learned a whole lot at mica, but you have to cope with a lot of shit as well .. and the crime rates are just skyrocketing .. gunshots woke me up now and then..
Good underground parties though if you know the right people at mica

My cousin-in-law went back to run the Baltimore Marathon and he said he was literally chased out of some neighborhoods.

I lived in B'more for 15 years. I think it's a pretty cool town if you know where to go, and where not to go.
Hands down one of the most authentic Irish pubs on the East Coast is in South Baltimore, called J. Patrick's. Jay himself still bartends at the ripe old age of 70-something. He came over on the boat some 30/40 years ago. Still uses the shelaligh method of security, but rarely has to make threats these days.
The best Indian food I have ever tasted is at the Ambassador Dining Room, off University near JHU. Also while down there, the BMA has a decent collection. Some nice Pollock and Warhol pieces in particular, last time I was there.
There are a lot of great restaurants, pubs, galleries—just stay out of the obvious places like the Inner Harbor. Whatever you do, don't go west of MLK Jr. Blvd, and don't go further west on Cold Spring Lane than Loyola.
Good providence to ya.

well bmore is out. MICA wanted to pay me to go to school, but i cant handle the east coast. im a pussy. i need a ton of hippie/hipsters that smoke herbs and love all things.
FUCK YOU BMORE YOU FUCK!

Um... Bawlmer is full of hipsters, that's pretty much the standard profile at MICA and in places like Charles Village, Locust Point or Canton. The city is quite the melting pot, you'll always find places and people that suit you. Dunno about the herbal business, can't recommend it as I've not touched drugs since 10th grade. Not too fond of hippies either, I like not being able to smell people's natural perfumes but that's just me.

The Visionary is one of the best, most unique museums I have ever seen. Just east of the harbor, north of Federal Hill.
