I'm so sick of Apple. Let me vent my spleen!
Late 2008 MBP, specced up, purchased early November. Kept heating up, beyond it's limit and wouldn't stop. Replacement logic board. Damaged screen by Apple genius, replaced screen. Badly fitted, replaced screen again. Snagged airport card wire in process, replaced apc. Now it won't shut down and the headphone socket won't work.Apple stores answer - we'll take a look and try to fix it, or we'll send it off and they'll send a replacement. Could take 21 days or more.
What kind of service is that. I wish I'd bought a dell from Tesco, they'd have taken it back no problem! So tomorrow I will be going to the Apple store in protest and waiting untill they hand over my money. Damn it.

not sure what the laws are where you are, but here in california we have a lemon law as well as the federal magnuson moss warranty act. maybe you've got some consumer protection laws where you are.
that said, i had a friend with similar problems and he just went down to the apple store and bitched about it until they gave him a new one just to get rid of him

I am starting to get the @#$#@ apple bug. With all the post's on here over the last month of so about problems with, Imacs, macbooks, macbook pros, mac pros and the rest apple inferior product is starting to become inferior. My thought is they have started using cheaper products to gain a higher profit margin.
I have never had a display problem with a PC.... ever.

- non-inferior lol********
- I am also pissed about all these retailers that claim to have "sales" on apple are just sales gimmicks, no real sale is offered, it's all small mail in rebates.********

do it...you are the customer...they have to fix the problem...in fact, they should replace the mac NOT REPAIR it.
As a corporation, Apple can do this....insist but stay firm and polite.
You want a working and new product, due to the inconvenience and stress caused....end of the story.
If they say NO, in the store....insist to see a Manager and have it sorted there and then....no delay...no replacement..a new one.
- yes they should.********
- IMO, say it pretty much exactly like Doorman put it. No repair, no delay, give me a new computer.,..now.thizzbobby
- yes they should.

They told me replicate the problem on the spot. I couldnt so they told me to go home.

yeah I'm one of the few designers who still builds my own pc's, still prefer them, more options less mess. You just have to know what your doing.

not all of the parts in a mac are unique to a mac, just as every other pc on the planet. if your phillips panel or western digital drive inside fails, is that apple's fault? perhaps it is, perhaps not. but every manufacturer puts out lemons, it happens. when i ran an IT shop i had a closet full of dead machines of all makes, none are special in this regard.

^ I think that goes for all computers. But yet, when Macs break down, people blame the component makers. When PC breaks down, its Microsoft even if they dont make the hardware.

ever see Dog Day Afternoon? Do that. And don't forget the tranny.

I agree, of course there are lemons, they should replace them though without rejecting the customer and taking their money!

thats the only issue with a mac. If its a pc and your really stuck (eg, writing a report due in 12 hours), you can go down to a shop, buy a new watsit and install it, your away. with a mac if it breaks you have to send it away.
good luck, you should be getting a new one courtesy of apple.

I thought apples never crashed, called your mom and did your laundry?

Another thing that needs to be fixed is the non compatibility between microsoft office ppt on a PC and a microsoft office ppt on a mac. If you design the ppt on a mac and send it to your client, not all but some of the images come out as a black box, no matter what the file type. I still have yet to see an answer for this.
