I have an aunt who used to look like david bowie when I was a kid back in the 80s. I wish I had a picture.

I never knew quite what to make of him. Part of me thinks he was just a clever collaborator and thier. When he worked with Mick Ronson, he sounded like Mick Ronson. When he worked with Carlos Alomar, he sounded like him. When he worked with Eno, he sounded like him. When he worked with Nile Rodgers he sounded like him. He did great stuff with Iggy Pop.
When he's made poor choices in partners (Reeves Gabrel, etc.,), he's made utter dreck.
Hasn't had a hit in a long time either.
But, back in the day, he sure did capture a lot of girl's imaginations!

It true that has quality control has not been so high in the past say 25 years but that's what happens when you keep releasing stuff into your 50s. See Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones etc etc. It seems like their taste just turns to shit eventually.

I think the recent stuff is great in context (ie, don’t compare it to 25 years ago – he doesn’t).
Outside is one of my fave Bowie albums, as are The Buddha of Suburbia and Reality.
