I don't see why she'd have to be glib about the affair. If she's an adult now and it happened when she was a kid,how should she be dealing with it? Spending every day cringing with some abstract remorse - or, as is the British way, laughing it off (only to rock slowly, weeping, late into the night, downstairs in the kitchen while the children sleep upstairs)?

This looks like an intelligence operation to me. The end-result is to get this de-humanizing topic on the minds and mouths of the population. The intelligence agencies will then monitor our discussions to gauge the 'general' public opinion on this grotesque subjects, then before you know it, we will have new disgusting content for all of the horror movies that lately have been produced all-year-long. The end-goal is to de-base you, me and society as a whole. Once society is sufficiently de-based, we can all be ruled over with efficiency.
