    I don't see why she'd have to be glib about the affair. If she's an adult now and it happened when she was a kid,how should she be dealing with it? Spending every day cringing with some abstract remorse - or, as is the British way, laughing it off (only to rock slowly, weeping, late into the night, downstairs in the kitchen while the children sleep upstairs)?
