i was wondering.. is it physically possible to be a shit power socket on my wall or an extension cable that cant cope it the electric drain?

Make an appointment with an Apple "genius" and take your compy in and show them the problem.
I had a friend who had a macbook and the battery was literally exploding out of the bottom of the laptop. He took it in and they were amazed! They replaced it with a new one, free of charge, no hassle.

goto prefs, then OK, then clikc the captain picard head until is says "make it so"
but because Macs never crash and a damn near perfect in every way and will even wipe your ass, I cannot guarantee that this will fix anything.
