This summer, the GF and i are travelling to New York for 6 days, after which we're going to Costa Rica for 2 weeks. Curious for your opinion/tips/advice.
Oh yes, we like surfing.

Oh, thx, but we only intended to surf in CR... We're visiting a friend in NY, so no surfing there.

where are you staying in CR. We were in Jaco and Quepos and there were plenty of surfers in the water on the beaches. I'd suggest doing some river rafting and ziplineing!

We surfed both coasts, pacific is better and more consistent in my opinion, go down to Guanacaste and further south, there are a few really good spots like Nosara and Malpais, very relaxed, you'll find plenty of nice towns and perfect surf around that area. Have fun! oh and forget about Jaco, good for boardshopping but terrible place to hang out... dont do the forest zipline thing either, totally boring, go surf!

a lot of people go to tamarindo down in CR and its gotten a bit touristy. i was there about 8 years ago and it was a great time. there are a ton of awesome surf spots down there. i like black beach and witches rock (its called witches something or other)
the surfing in new york is limited at best. i have seen guys paddling on surf boards with paddles on the east river. its a pretty cool sight
