Any of you guys know of a good program or something I can work towards (certificate) for Flash. I'm already a graduate but looking for a solid place to learn the program intensively.
Although I know Flash can be self-taught, I think its easier to find a good school that teach you the shortcuts rather than discovering them yourself.

think SVA has a program...

^ agreed

I considered it but I heard SVA cost $1k for approx. 1 class. I'll look into it though.

You guys heard if its worth it?

A old client / co-worker went there for it...she learned a bit but I don't think it was significant.

Well its Flash 101 pretty much, you can't really delve deep into making a decent site from 1 class. Or we would all be out of a job.

i took illustrator over there, the teaching is very broad and not focused as the class was rather large and each user had very different levels of understanding the program... its ok. perhaps
Pratt is better.

seriously, teach yourself, it'll be faster, you'll learn what you want, and not have to wait around for the legions of twonks that invariably pile into these things and slow everyone down..
Gotoandlearn.com is great

teaching yourself is always a good option. if you are just starting out, take a class and get the basics down. you can then take it to where you want.

Get a book (not an e-book).
I found books really helpful when I was starting.
Maybe an O'reilly or Friends of Ed book.

I heard that SVA sucks. I would go the route of getting a book or online learning. Ask questions after to a friend or QBN

totally get a friends of ed or oreilly book, and read it obsessively at every opportunity when yr not on the computer. When you've got it all down, keep it by the toilet and brush up on a few pages at a time whilst taking a shit.

I have a degree in Graphic Design but wouldn't it be better to have some certification or for me to work towards a Masters.

if you're serious about learning actionscript don't take any classes. Although I started doing actionscript after a good class, done by a good teacher, the chances of getting the right teacher are slim. Most of my classmates couldn't care less about programming after that class, so it's pretty hit and miss.
Do online tutorials, ask questions on forums, and get a developer buddy on IM.
- if you're looking for some bullshit papers that say you know stuff, you won't learnPupsipu

wow guys... you've been pretty helpful. Never seen a thread so clean, and to the point. Gota luv QBN... Although I don't know flash strictly print!

id say first find your motiviation in why you want it and where you want to be with it. then set your goals. and set out to do it yourself. taking classes is last century and does not really work for this field where everything changes from day to day.

What's the best resource for 2.0 -> 3.0 transition? Moock's book again?
