I've been using a LaCie flat screen CRT - electron22blue - since 2000 and it still love it. I believe it is one of the first monitors they made.

sorry to burst bubbles guys, but it's the exact same samsung PVA panel as the dell 2408wfp for significantly more money.
- sikma0
yep they are the same panels - but built to higher specification.
effectively the dell monitors are the reject panels.

Dell 2408WFP (*) (widescreen) has a 24 inch 6 ms (g2g) S-PVA (Samsung LTM240CS) panel.
LaCie 324 (widescreen) has a 24 inch 6 ms (g2g) S-PVA (Samsung LTM240CS) panel.

Well both the Samsung and Lacie reps told me that. I work with a company that resells both.
Plus I know lots (probably over 100) of photographers who use Lacie monitors. Most buy Lacie only after having problems with cheaper panels.
The most common problem with the dell/samsung panels is uneven density and color across the screen. Which can makes it very difficult to get consistent color.
I'm using a computer with a Samsung screen right now. One side of the monitor is about 4 points green and the other side is about 4 points magenta. It's only a year old.

I don't have scientific proof. Just experience with both products.

i got a Samsung SyncMaster 225bw at home.
OK, but not as good as a LaCie for color accuracy.
Depending of the view angle, working with shades of dark grey and other dark colors can be a pain.

well, regardless of manufacturer, you'll generally get better color with an IPS panel than a PVA type.

You could get two HP LP2475 24" for the price of one lacie. These are IPS panels with the sparkle-vision coating just like the old(current) ACDs. A quality display, maybe not quite to Lacie's level (though lacie's quality has been known to range between excellent and bullshit)
